Crain's Cleveland Business - A team from Detroit that aims to put tiny sensors on buoys took the top prize at the Erie Hack Water Innovation Summit — an event that challenged teams from throughout the Lake Erie region to solve the lake's biggest problems. Wayne State University's Micro Buoy team will receive $40,000 cash plus about $10,000 in support services to help it commercialize its sensor, which is designed to detect contaminants in water.
