- LANSING — The smart roads of the not-too-distant future are being built in Southeast Michigan. Along a 125-mile triangle from St. Clair Shores to Brighton and Ann Arbor and back, more than 100 sensors capable of detecting a vehicle's speed and location are installed along the side of the road — many of them in Oakland County.
